KOHAFIT Boxing Session 2017
KOHAFIT was designed in 2017 with Whānau (anyone considered family) in mind. Supported by Te Puna Kokiri (Read their article HERE) and Moana Radio Tauranga it originally began operating out of a gym facility but then took to the local parks of Tauranga Moana. Training is fun & tailored to those who are keen to become more active - it's about building your confidence, not breaking it. The program provides an affordable, safe and fun environment for Whānau - all whilst supporting our community.
It focuses on the idea of doing the things we may have done as children, playing games and relays to encourage movement. This allows parents to bring their children either to participate if they are old enough, or to have them play on the playground.
KOHAFIT is intended to help Whānau overcome the barriers that may be preventing you from enjoying a better quality of life.
In 2017, KOHAFIT was nominated and a finalist for Programme Excellence at the New Zealand Exercise Industry Awards. It is an award given to an individual or organisation that delivers a programme involving exercise, nutrition or other lifestyle interventions for a certain amount of time.
Not only did KOHAFIT emphasize moving Whānau, but also carried out health seminars and nutritional advice from professionals. While it was an honor for KOHAFIT to be one of the four finalists in a nationwide competition in its first year of running, there is so much more that can be offered to our community.
